66 chrysler newport drum brake question

66 chrysler newport drum brake question

ok i had the drum brakes adjusted and they are very cushining they they are not firm i have not had drum brakes before so how are they saposed to feel

They should be frim wether power or not, sounds like you have air in the line. Take it back to whom ever you had adjust it and tell them you need the brakes inspected and have him look for leaks. You may get away with a system bleed but more than likely a leak. If the hydraulic system of the brakes has been serviced latley, they need to be bled better. The cusiony feeling is either air in the line (air will compress liquid will not) or worn out rubber hoses that expand when pressure is applied. Might also be some kind of contaminent on the shoes or drums (grease or oil) and not allowing good friction, they must be clean and dry. Not safe either way.
