66 New Yorker Electric Bench Seat Question

The seat on my New Yorker only goes front and back no up and down or angles just two way. Is this supposed to be a six-way adjustable or was the only with the bucket seats? The switch from what I can tell is just a toggle switch but it will go in any direction but the seat only moves when you move the switch front to back. Also when the seat is all the way back it still isn't quite far enough for me, and I am only 5'8" , it's not bad but I would like to go back a little more, knees bent a bit and steering wheel only a couple inches from my body. Or were people just small back then. Hard to believe that a huge car like this really doesn't have that much room for the driver! Is there a limiter under the seat that might be adjustable to allow more travel. It seems to move back and forth freely just won't go back as far as I'd like it. Looks like it's going all the way back on the track though... maybe I just need to lose weight! My tiny toyota has more driver clearance and leg room than this monster New Yorker! Don't seem right no sir just don't seem right!!!

Any ideas on this would be appreciated.

somebody has messed with the system it should go farther back. If your seat control has smooth square then the switch is busted. If it has tangs on the **** twist the **** and see if the seat goes up or down.

chances are someone got a pen or other plastic junk trapped under the seat and it is jammed in the slider track preventing the seat from going back. remove seat (its heavy) unbolt the power mechanizm from under the seat clean tracks and lubricate them with white litium grease reinstall. DO NOT TAKE APART the power seat mechanizm itself. Its all gears, cables and is a bitch to put together again.

Thanks for the reply
Mine just has a single toggle switch no tangs and it doesn't turn. Looking at the mech it looks like this bench seat was only set up for forward backward movement not the six way. Did they make bench seats with only two way electric or is this a mod or something. sure looks factory...
And looking at the track it looks like it moves as far back as it will go.

I'll have it looked at by a mechanic when I get the chance...

Thanks again and for any further input anyone can provide...

Tom

My 66 New Yorker moves 4 way. Up Down and Forward Back. I also wish it would go back further. I'm 6 foot and could use some more.
