Semi-Serious question...

My buddys and I were talkn the other day and something came up... Being that the Polara, the car I am working on, is, I would nt say rare, but not too many driving around. Anyways, what would it take to build the worlds fastest Polara? I knwo its kind of a funny question but does any one know of like a famous racing Polara or something cuz I sure don't, how could you even validate something like that? Its corny, but I thought it would be cool to have the worlds fastest something, lol. I have A L O T of time on my hands.

Google it..... X2.

IT's probably not worth teh time or money that you would have to put into it. Although, if it were to work out for you, I'm sure that a lot more people would follow and help the economy as far as the aftermarket performance parts go.... but that is a far stretch.

LOL, I know, the whole idea is a stretch! But... in all honesty, it really shouldnt be too much more than the plan I had laid out previously. I'm thinking seat, steering wheel, 700-800 hp and of course a shot of nitrous should do the trick. Ill be googlin till polara is #1!

i would love to see this project. my 68 newport is currently in the works to eventually get a supercharged 440 that i am currently building on a stand in my garage. hoping to push around 800 RWHP on pump gas. HOPING!!!!! will be fun either way when i finish it in a few years. good luck.

I thought we were talking about top speed? That way that you want to build it is great for drag racing (just ask MReeves).

If you want to build it for top speed, you need light weight and gearing with tall(er) tires. Here is how I would do it.

1) Built LA360 motor with 400+ ft-lbs of torque
2) A518 (because it has OD) or a built TF727 with an OD unit from Klune on the back end.
3) 9.25 will get you 3.23 gears
3a) 8.25 will get you 2.76 gears
3b) Dana 44 will get you 2.73 gears
3c) Dana 60 will get you 3.54 gears
3d) 8.75 will get you 3.55 gears
(With whatever axle you go with, get a spool or sure grip for it at least).
4) Fit the tallest tire that you can.
5) Stripe the interior and replace most of the sheet metal with fiberglass.

That is awesome! I was thinking about going with the 440 & SC too but figured I would wait untill I blow th etop off this built 383.

I was thinking more along the lines of 0-60 time or 1/4 mile, top end would never be realized, anywhere round where I live anyways. Besides, I think I will build a second rear end for street/top end use.

That is what I was trying to say. Those ratios are the numberically lowest that you can go without having a custom set made up..... which would cost $$$$$.

As far as going with the quickest, now that is a different story. Build it how you discribed. Maybe talk with Mreeves and crazy4carz.com about it too. I know they have some knowledge in this area. Big power, wide contact patch, tuned suspension, and light weight are all the keys (there are probably some more keys too but I can't remember where I put them. )
