Can anyone tell me what the engine should be in a 1972 Barracuda with this VIN :BS23R2BXXXXXX, Would it be a special order?

Are you sure that "R" is not an "H"?

According to this:

http://www.degeneratepress.com/newpo...66-74.htm#1972

So your "R" might be a B? H? P?

Fifth digit = engine
B - 198 1-1BBL 6 Cylinder "G" engine
C - 225 1-1BBL 6 Cylinder "RG" engine
E - Special Order 6 Cylinder engine
G - 318 1-2BBL 8 Cylinder "LA" engine
H - 340 1-4BBL 8 Cylinder "LA" engine (High Performance)
K - 360 1-2BBL 8 Cylinder "LA" engine
M - 400 1-2BBL 8 Cylinder "B" engine
P - 400 1-4BBL 8 Cylinder "B" engine (High Performance)
T - 440 1-4BBL 8 Cylinder "RB" engine
U - 440 1-4BBL 8 Cylinder "RB" engine (High Performance)
V - 440 3-2BBL 8 Cylinder "RB" engine (High Performance)
Z - Special Order 8 Cylinder engine

It certainly is not a true "R" code car, unless you can supply documents to prove otherwise, there were NO 1972 Hemi Cuda's produced. What are the next 5 digits following the BS23r2b? I ask because there were rumors around back in '07 that this car was in fact real and I know what the "supposed" VIN was.

the Car I'm talking about was for sale on Ebay from Phoenix they had the car advertized with this VIN BS23R2B162331 but as it turns out the R was in fact an H, they had made a mistake printing the VIN number......too bad, a guy could always dream!
