70 AAR Cuda alternator problem
Here's the scenario...
At times when I put my foot into the accelerator of my AAR Cuda, 340 with 6pak, rpm's goes high and the charging system indicates maximum and is stuck there for 1 - 2 minutes, even after I let off. Visual indications are that the radio goes off and the lights are much brighter, so there must be higher voltage during this period of time. As I said after the 1 - 2 minutes, the system recovers, back to normal operating condition, that is the charging system indicates normal charging. I changed the voltage regulator, same indications, everything points to the alternator, but I wanted to see if anyone out there has had a similar problem.
Thx Stan

you can take the whole car to an auto parts store and they will usually check it for you but rich is probably right , i had my brake light come on for some wierd reason and charging system was going haywire but after looking into it i found my brake light wire worked its way to the header and melted the covering off but when it hit a bump everything went back to normal , i just r&r wire and no problem
