HELP

Just got my engine in my 70 Challenger now for the wiring hooked up the starter direct to the battery and now everything is hot on the car don't have the key on but when I have the + hooked up and touch the - the starter motor cranks what am I doing wrong?

First thing to do is make sure the big main cable is not lying over against the small solenoid terminal.

Second thing to do is disconnect the small terminal. If it still cranks, you have something wrong in the solenoid
