NEED HELP: VALUE OF 1971 CHALLENGER R/T

A friend has fallen on hard times, and is considering selling his 1971 Challenger R/T 340 4 bbl, 727 automatic.

* car is all there but very rough with rust in usual places
* matching numbers
* last driven 15 years ago
* motor last started 4 years ago, but was ok then
* needs total restoration
* has clean Florida title

anyone want to take a stab at a fair price he should ask?

i would say, with this economy, 10k, maybe a little higher

if its really rough like you said in unusal places i guess depending on the locations of rust 6 to 10k i wouldnt pay for a car that had major rust issues but thats just me never know what your getting into until its to late but being that its got numbers matching gtx may be right it really hard to say without seeing it

Thanks for the help. I'll see if I can get some photo's.

This thing is seriously rough. The front fenders and door skins would be thrown away. The rear quarters heavily worked. The roof near the drip rail on both sides has rust through in a couple areas. The windshield frame will need work. etc.

I have seen worse though. I am sure there are some that would take this on.

if its that bad im thinking only around $2000.00 sorry ... it would cost the buyer about 10 g's to get it back up and running (been there done that kind of thing )

Well, to the right person it can be worth something. to someone else, nothing.

Like others have said, pictures would be a def to try and figure out a RANGE. All types of cars in different stages are worth different types of value.

but with the way were heading, i don't think many old cars are bringing value...
