The VIN will be the last 13 digits on the bottom line of the fender tag.

Why would you not just read the VIN off the dash where it should be?

mr340 05-03-2012 03:21 PM

I think he is trying to decode the fender tag.

Look here for info on decoding the VIN and fender tag. At 37k I would want to be sure that the car is legit!

The point I'm trying to make, is that fender tags can be easily removed and replaced. When I used to hang out at Moparts I got into a HECK of an argument over there with a couple of guys who "collect" them.

If this car has been hacked up or "rebodied", anybodies guess. I would do a LOT more than look at the fender tag. There are other SN's on other parts of the car. I'd compare them to the dash VIN, and the fender tag, and go from there. For me, the fender tag is the LAST thing I'd trust as "documentation."

Someone said that there are other places to check the serial numbers. can you tll me were that is. the block has a serial number on the right side he said its a date code engine meaning matching number any help would be GREAT

mr340 05-07-2012 03:24 AM

Date code is not necessarily numbers matching, it just means that the manufacture date is close the the date the car was built. Other VIN locations are the trunk rail under the seal (usually on the drivers side, and also on the radiator support. I would also look at the block for the correct VIN. The number you show is a casting number not a VIN or date code.
