5.2 magnum swap

Hello everybody.. I'm doing a full drivetrain swap from a 97 ram with 5.2 nv3500 5 speed 4x4 into a 64 fargo and i also have a 2000 ram 5.2 auto 4x4 that i will be using the axles from. the 97 nv3500 t case has the vss where i can put a cable drive speedo too but i would have to lose the vss. So question 1 is would the speed sensor in the rear of 2000 axle work in place of the 97 vss? Question 2 do i have to have the gauge cluster plugged in for the engine to run right? If i am able too i can use the 97 wiring. I've seen on youtube where auto too manual swaps have been done leaving the auto wiring and pcm there but would have to have the pcm either reflashed or a manual pcm used. I don't think the 97 pcm would work with the 2000 wiring. The reason for this i would like to use the 64 gauges if possible if not i will make the 97 gauges look good there. Thanks in advance with any advice.

I'm going to disassemble the ram gauges and take the stepper motors out and make them fit in the original gauge cluster and run wires from the motors to the ram gauge circuit board and hide it in the dash somewhere hopefully this will work. Will take pics when i do it but have alot of things to do before. Wish me luck.
