1950 plymouth deluxe again....

i'm still struggling with the P20. i replaced the head gasket and i thought i was going to have it all going, THEN this breaks off. does anyone know what it's called? it screws into the cylinder head, and the bell crank from the accelerator pedal mounts to it. i assume it's called a "bell crank stud" or something along those lines. i called andy bernbaum and he didn't have one. he gave me a part number but i can't seem to find the piece anywhere. 1117171. any lead i can get would be greatly appreciated. i thought i could fabricate/modify one if i could find something close, but i'd rather just get the original part if i can run one down.

try a small left hand drill bit. to get the threads out of the head. or a automatic center punch to rotate the threads. with those two parts any good machine shop should be able to make one. ONLY are the parts hardened? a file will tell you that. it might be a good idea to get 2 made.

thanks. i called vintage power wagons and told them what i needed. andy bernbaum didn't have the part. VPW sent me the part. got it today. wrong part.
i think i can make it work. i got the threads out of the block but i haven't tried to drill/file the bolt yet. i have tomorrow off. i should be giving it a go then.

This is the time when I wish some of our "older" members were here. There was a woman on here named Morgan who knew these cars and the Cranberrys very well. I wish I could help you. Maybe look her up and try to email her.

i have a client that lives out of state that came in for some extensive work and i remembered that he built motorcycles. turns out, he fabricates stuff all the time for custom bikes. i happened to have the part on me from driving around all day before work looking for parts to try to rig one up. he took it back with him to virgina to fab the part for me. he has access to CNC machines and/or just hand brazing. said he'd make a few of them up for me if i kept his tattoo at "a reasonable price". i always try to work within people's budgets so that wasn't a problem. he also said that he could fab up a split exhaust manifold for me if i have the old one. that would end up costing me a good ***** of change though.
anyone know anyone in southern california LA/OC area that can do the cast iron wleding that could split one for me?

the duel pipes will be great. your engine is very much like a 1957 dodge pick up with a 6 cyl like i had i made an adapter to put a 2bbl carb. off of a 1952 Kaiser 6 cyl. it was a carter WGD 2 bb. a 2bbl off a 318 would do fine. the adapter was made from two plates, one matches the manifold, one matches the carb. use an exhaust pipe, split it to open it wide to fit the 2bbl plate. fill the V opening. the throttle shaft should be parallel to the crank shaft. NOTE: be VERY careful that the throttle does NOT stick open. over revving will wipe out the piston rings. the stock manifold is made under the carb so you cant drill and open it cause it has an exhaust passage under the carb. so drilling into it the stock manifold cant be done
