1953 Plymouth Cranbrook Police Car Project

Hello. I recently purchased a 1953 Plymouth Cranbrook. I'm a 10 year volunteer with the Maryland-National Capital Park Police in Montgomery County, MD. When our department was first established in 1954, the first squad car issued to the Department was a '53 Plymouth Cranbrook. I always thought it would be a neat idea to find one and restore it as a replica of that first police car. The problem was that the cars I found were either rust buckets or were already restored to a high standard so that not only was the buy-in priced accordingly, but the thought of mutilating an already restored car for the conversion to police cruiser was not an appetizing one.

The car is still in New York and I'm getting the paperwork straight and transport arranged to our workshop in Emmitsburg, MD.

I had been a Little British Car guy up to this point. This is my first venture into Vintage American Cars. I'm guessing that the mechanics aren't going to be too much different, but I'm sure I'm going to have a million questions for everyone. Thank you in advance for putting up with me!
