95 Ram 5.2 swap.

Sorry for the kinda dumb question. I have a 95 Ram with a 5.2 with 272,000 miles on it. I just fixed the muffler and now I found most of the noise was NOT the exhaust, but the rods! I will be getting a used motor this week. I know all the 5.2 magnums physically swap, but is there any other issues related to compatibility by years? I know there is an egr/non-egr issue. Should I worry about that? Thanx!

Someone with a Hollander Manual should be able to tell you what years will fit.

All magnum long blocks will fit. Its the accessories: tubes, exhaust, etc.. those will be specific to your application. See if you can get engine assembly as 50 percent of the mag heads crack. It ups the chance that you have a good working pair.

You got 272k miles? That's impressive!!
