'99 Ram 1500 4wd- need advice
My 318 magnum with 170k decided to burn a couple valves. I need some advice on my rebuild plans. This is a weekend driver hunting/tow vehicle/recovery vehicle. i have never rebuilt a Dodge but I wanted to do something different and I like the look of these trucks.
I am planning to run 37" tires and a mild lift on this truck and its Automatic short wheel base.
I am swapping to a 360 magnum but am not sure what HP and Torque specs I need to plan for, or what company to talk to about kits, to be Satisfied with the performance of my truck.
I am not that concerned with gas consumption due to it being a weekend driver but due to it being used as a Tow vehicle I do not think a Stroker kit is what I need.
Thanks for your help

To keep it simple, have you thought about a mopar performance, computer compatible, rv/towing cam? They move the torque band lower in the rpm range. The original cams are a compromise between towing, and passing at highway speeds. You can find a good cam. Free-er exhaust, and a "chip" or computer "flash" should really wake it up! So you dont have to make daily-driver compromises. I think you can do this cheaply, and easily! There are also some good, upgraded, 5.9 heads out there too. They are priced nearly the same as a stock rebuild.

If you want to run 37s, I would look into swapping in a set of axles out of a 2500 cummins as well. They will be D60 front and D70 rear with 3.73 gearing (maybe 4.10 but I doubt it).
