99 ram 4x4 build

Ok I am new to the mopar seen. And starting a mopar project. So here we go. I have bought a 99 ram 1500 4x4 and planning to go BIG with it. I have already updated the trany. Will be ether building my own lift or buying a aftermarket lift . But I am looking for advice on motor goodies. It has a stick 5.9 in it and I was planning on having it rebuild or maybe buying a create motor any suggestions.

Are you going to be dealing with any Emission Programs were you are at? if not? that a +.... But if you got to run the cat's, that will take a little different input...

Welcome.

I would do a hot compression test and/or leak down test first to access the engine. If ok, doing a cam, head and manifold improvement can make 400 HP/TQ easy.

Well I have been thinking I was going to stroke it. Had not thought about the emissions. This is a street and weekend fun/ hunting truck. But it will not be legal in my state

Boy... That a Wide bill to fill.... lol
But just my 2 cents.... Budget is going to dictate where you head.
My first thought was>>> and then it went bigger as we chatted...
1. Stroker Small Block
2. 500hp Stroker
Then I ended up with
3. Procharged EFI small block with ether a MegaSquirt efi or a Big Stuff system.

But at this point I would think your going to be moving to 5 ton Diff's and a Drive train re-work.... At that point... Diesel Power Baby...

Sooooooo....Budget Wise..... I'd go with the Stroker Small Block... build your own... Or do something like a MRL or IMM or JMS Built Motor...

Just food for thought... My 2 cents only..... Keep us posted... we are here to help you do the Brain storming.....

I like MRL's 416 build.... But I'm not sure where he is at with the EFI on these at the moment.....

Good to start penciling a base together.... But the Question becomes " do you have a reputable Mopar engine builder that you can deal with" ? If you do great.
