Ram 2500 V10
I'm looking at a 1996 Ram 2500 with a V10 8.0 liter. I have two questions, one may be dumb...
1. Is this V10 the same as a viper motor, as in SRT10? If not what is the difference?
2. How reliable are these motors? And are parts expensive for said motor?
Thanks in advance, I know its been a while. Just been working and trying to straighten stuff out.

like 1966sportfury said, the programming is different and I think that the cams may be different as well as the two vehicles need different RPM power bands.
They do cost a little more than a V8 would. When I worked in the dealership, I hardly ever saw these in for repairs, mostly just service work.

Here's all you need to know http://www.allpar.com/mopar/V10.html http://www.allpar.com/model/viphist.htm Alot of good info, but I coulda sworn that I read somewhere the Viper was an aluminum block, and the Ram was cast iron. But I couldnt find that in the articles.

Thanks for the help guys! Ended up passing on the truck however, They wanted 3000 above book price for it. I wish I could be a Car dealer, make tons of money from people that don't do their research.
