89 Dakota 3.9 2wd auto. Only after the engine runs, do I get a strong smell of gas right around the fuel door/left rear wheel well area. No signs of leakage. Slightly rough idle at idle. Never noticed that before. This all started after hauling 25 bags (35 lbs ea) of drainage rocks in the bed.

 

Sounds like a cracked hose or suck open purge valve
