Haven't been here in a while. Just saw this question. Can't really answer, haven't got it on the road yet. After 1½ months at Tech School for a valve cover gasket ( had an aftermarket valve cover, required special bolts & the rear one was a pain in the @55 to get to ), it failed inspection yesterday. Have to get some stuff fixed & take it back. Even better, the valve cover leak was only part of it. Also has a rear main leaking. Tech School won't even touch that. Called the shop where I take stuff for inspection & they said 5½ hours labor ( 4wd , they have to pull the engine ). If I pull that out, I don't want to put it back in. Want an AMC 360 I paid for & now can't contact the guy.

Found out from the Sheriff's Dept. where the guy I paid for an AMC 360 is that he is on the run & warrants are issued . House was foreclosed end of March. Appears he was mixed up in dope . Sadly am stuck with the 258 for a while .

Don't be too sad about that 258. They are great motors with lots to offer.

If you are willing to invest the time and work, you can swap on a 4.0 head with FI intake and have one bad bump motor. You can also pull the motor and swap in a 4.0..... right after you use the 4.2 crank and rods and build the 4.0 into a stroker....... Just saying

Just not a fan of " 6 in a row " ( personal preference ). Always believed " V-8 makes it great ". Have been reading a lot about other people on the Eagle site doing that. They also add fuel injection. When they build theirs up, they go for a 4.7? 4.9? ( forget which ).

4.7 sounds about right. 4.6 is another good number to build them too. As strokers, they have a great amount of torque and HP (comparable to that of a SB V8).

Have a 360 ( AMC ) coming. Guy on the Eagle site is going to give me one. Think it's already partially disassembled. Says it needs rebuilt, but is a good core to rebuild. Maybe in a couple years, I'll get my 360 in there yet.

That car will scream with an AMC 360 in it. Do you know what year and what it is out of?

Didn't get a lot of info. just that it had been sitting for a while & had gotten wet, but should still be rebuildable. Price is right & beggars can't be choosers. From what he said, I think it's already partially disassembled.
