Wheels on cheap cars
I was on my way home from work this morning and a couple of block from my house I was stopped at a set of lights. The lights turned green and I proceeded to turn left onto my road. There is a gas station on the corner right there and the person infront of me was trying to turn in. There was a red C@%#y Cobolt 4 door car that came to a stop. What caught my eye was the wheels. the car was stopped and the wheels were still spinning (no, this is not a new concept to me). At first I thought that they were just the hub cap type that you can buy at any parts store but they were the real thing.
Now I have no idea how much a set of 17" spinning wheels cost, but I can't imagine them being cheap by any means. What really got me was the fact that the kid would spend that much money on a car like that. I just had to laugh to myself.
I could see if it was a two door sport type car, but this was far from that.

Actually the cost of rims has dramatically decreased over, I'd say the past 4 or 5 years. Especially spinning rims, right now it's about putting the obsolute biggest rims you can on a car. I'm talking putting a lift kit on a car to put 26'' or 28'' rims on a car. Spinning rims is kinda lame now actually, not that it was ever cool in the first place. Oh yeah there's plenty of places that FINANCE rims, which is absolutely absurd. 17'' rims you could prolly pick up pretty cheap, relatively speaking. I get this all the time where I live from a number of different people, "When you gonna put some 22''s on your Satellite?" Of course I reply "I'm going to leave my 15'' Cragar's on there".
DISCLAIMER- Unfortunately I live in the deep south now (I'm originally from the North East) and I have to witness this on a daily basis. Fortunately people only seem to like to do this to "Boxed" Chevy's (I'm talking like a '72 Impala), and tend to leave Mopars alone. However I've seen some other muscle cars that this has been done too and it's horrific. I am not a fan of doing this to any car, let alone classic muscle cars. However people can do what they want to their vehicle, they have to drive it not me.

what I am looking at nowadays are the factory rims that are going onto jeeps.
Jeeps have the same bolt pattern [5x4 1/2] as the old mopars. And even the register of the axle is the same (think the diameter of the large hole in the brake drum). I saw some really killer ones on a Jeep Commander, they were six spoke design but not sure of the diameter. Anybody know the size of these wheels and the backspace and how much do they cost?
Im thinking they must be at least 18 or 19 inchers/
