383 valve noise

hey guys, i'm new and i have a question. 68 rr, 383, aftermarket cam and crane race roller rockers. the gold ones, i am not sure what else is in it,i bought it this way, edelbrock intake,800 cfm carb, long tube headers, msd, here's my problem, under load, valves are quite, car runs strong. back off throttle, take load off engine and valves are very noisy. talked to a mopar race shop, and several drag racers and they all told me the same thing. take the rollers out, and replace with stock valve train components. they say these crane rollers do not work on the street. what do you think??

If not set up properly they can be noisy....
You need to check how the roller travel's across the valve stem
Could be valve height, push rod length ???? is incorrect

My 2 cents, I replaced my stock rockers for rollers. The old pushrods weren't even close to correct length. An order from Smith Brothers and I had a perfect set. Placed in, adjusted correctly and very quiet no issues in my 383.. Check geometry close and make sure all adjusted..then go from there..

i do not intend to race this car, i found a mopar mechanic with a 68 charger running in the tens, he is going to trade a new stock rocker set up, with labor and the correct pushrods for my rollers. for the street, i think this is my best choice. he is also going to do a few other things. for me driveability is more important than a couple tenths off my et. thanks guys, but i am taking the easy way out.
