hello im Andrew and im baffled

Hello I have a 78 W-150 regular cab short bed with a 440. Trucks appears to be all original drive train. I just found the original build sheet in the seat. According to the sheet it was built for the feds. Also under the engine section it says 440 476. Does anyone have an idea why it says 476 next to 440? Also under trans it say A508 which I have never heard of. So if anyone has an idea on what the trans is. Thank you

Welcome, if the vehicle was built for the Feds, anything is possible with the specifications the Feds may have requested.. I do think the a508 may be a 727 transmission with an overdrive option. Maybe someone else with know exactly..

Good luck..

Myraman the trans Is not an overdrive unit. Thinking maybe lockup converter. Also truck has 3:23 gears and at 65 im around 2300 rpm on 33 inch tires
