65 plymouth casting number location
I need to know where to look for the block casting number and date casting on a 65 plymouth. It is supposedly a 426 wedge and I need to have the seller read it to me. Can anyone help? The casting is probably in the same general area as other engines. Thanks

Howdy, the casting #`s will be on the drivers side, therell be a 6 digit # then a daash 426 it its a 426 . then on the pass, side behind the motor mount and under the head will be a date like 7 13 64. sept. 64-aug. 65 was the 65 model year.then theres an ID. pad on top of the motor drivers side in front of the intake across from the dist. it should say 426 top left, then botm left like 7 16 thats the date the motor was assmb. adn the car was built. hope this helps.

Is the block casting number visible from the top of the engine or do you have to crawl under the car to see it? I'm trying to verify over the phone that a car I am interested in does indeed have a 426 in it. Thanks

You have to crawl under the car.You can verify it from the top on the id pad i told you about across from the distibutor in front of intake on drivers side, its a raised square pad 2'x1' top left side of pad it should say 426.

65 Sport Fury
Looks like I'm going to have to change my name. I found the 65 Sport Fury that I was looking for (426 4spd) on ebay.Turns out this was a pretty rare eng trans combination, only 15 made. No wonder I could never find one. After making the deal the seller informed me that he had Govier documentation for the car. You would think that they might have mentioned that in the ad, but I don't think they even know who Galen Govier is. Now I'm trying to arrange transport from California to Missouri so I can see what I've got. I'll post pictures when I get it.

Be carefull, Just causse someone says galen documented their car doesnt mean he documented their car. He gets paid a fee to decifer the fender tag rubbing you send him, and alot of times, he may look at a car and not document it, but just look at it at a car show or at the nats, then people say oh yeah galen documented my car. This is why I dont like big money guys getting into the hobby. they throw their money around, buy 6 and 7 figure cars, drive the market price up , then every shyster and their bro. start running scams on the every day moparite, and then alot of people end up getting boned. really look the car over good before you buy it, id even call galen and ask him about this car. if it is 1 of 15, I gaurrantee hell know the car, he can set you straight on it.
