79 Omni-first mopar

Hi... I've had chevies ever since my first car, a 1965 four door chevelle. Since then, I've had an 83 citation, a 73 el camino, and a 94 camaro. I recently had an accident in the camaro and started looking for a new car. Imagine my surprise to find a garage kept 79 omni with 60,000 miles on it on ebay for next to nothing. It's got no power steering, no AC, an AM radio, and no power brakes I looked under the hood and saw one V-belt with no accessories and knew that it was the right choice. Also, the fact that there weren't any rust holes in the floor helped quite a bit.

It's two tone (upper is darker green, lower lighter green) and has what looks like fake gremlin X decals on the sides. Somebody also put cheesy yellow fog lights on the front bumper. Engine is a carbureted 1.7 with a three speed auto.

Overall, it's not running bad for a car that sat for three years. I plan on using it as a commuter until it explodes. Are there any typical problems with these cars? I know that their electrical systems are a little spotty but not much else.

Welcome Stazja01 , nice looking car , there has always been a slight problem with the electrical part of the car as you said but if you take car of it and keep it out of the salt on the road weather it will be a nice ride for years to come , after you drive it for awhile i would change it over to rear wheel drive and do away with that little motor and cram a 360 or 318 in it and make it a sleeper car but you will also have to stiffen up the underbody fram but with subfram rails that can be made it could be a awsome sleeper but take your time and drive till it pops but that could be for a long time and just keep the oil changed and all fluids changed and have a great ride
