born and raised mopar life summary
My name is Bryon, just figured I'd stop by and say hi. I was born into a love of mopars from my father. The first car I remember of my parents was a 68 notch back barracuda, nothing special, 318, 904, white inside and light metallic green on the outside. Dad loved it, mom hated it, mainly the color and she said it was too small. Many dodge trucks came around also, a '59 1 ton, a '78 express, a '36 military truck, a '69 ambulance, and a '34 halfton. Then in 1990 came the first cool car as I was 6, a 1970 challenger, all black with a 318 and a 4-speed and about 13 paint jobs hiding everything wrong with it. Originally a 340 3-speed, FC7 with a black top and r/t delete stripe, because a small block could not be an r/t in '70. I think this car made 2 or 3 trips to the little town I grew up by and then dad found some rust in the engine bay and "had to fix it." While this car sat apart, a 71 tor-red barracuda, 318, console shift 904, black inside with a dealer installed black top was purchased in '92 for 3500 from the original owners, this is the car my sister and then myself drove to high school, and seeing I graduated in 2003, the car kinda stuck out. Now when the weather was bad, me and my sister had to drive the little green notchback to and from which by this time was strating to rust quite badly and was in need of some help. There were also many car show trips stuck in there, the most memorabl was a 2 week trip to edmonton which we packed all our stuff in the trunk of the 71 barracuda, that's the trip a collapsable spare was purchased for. Also just before the trip, mom and dad bought a 340 6 pack for the challenger as at the time they didn't have the original 340, it came out of a duster, factory built in canada, plum crazy 340 6 pack 70 duster with "o" heads, not "x", bought the complete motor for 1200, the kid wanted to cut the car up and big block it to go faster. So on this trip, I helped dad put that motor in the little orange barracuda with a flat hood and factory inch and whatever single exhaust. It was quite fun on the streets as it surprised a few big block runners and chargers. Well anyways, the green car was sold my junior year and a white 68 notch back was purchased from the orginal owner with 88000 miles showing, green interior, bucket seats, colum shift 904, 318, 8 3/4 with 3.23 sure grip. This became my first car. Hated the color combo at first, but it has grown on me since then and still is driven regularly, but now has a 340 with "j" heads and hp manifolds and a 4 speed overdrive from a duster. Drove this car to wyoming when I went to wyo tech after high school, and then to vegas where I did body work for 4 years, then back to washington where I now work at an upholstery shop. Well last year I got married and on our honeymoon in seaside oregon, we came across a 68 dart gt. motor and trans were gone, slant 6 it was, but everything else was present. blue with blue interior, buckets, console shift auto, all the stainless, all the glass, plus a 74 scamp with big disc brakes under the front and a 400 and a 383 and a 727. As the price was right and the new wife needed a cool car, we decided to buy it and are currently waiting for the time to work on it as our second daughter is now 7 weeks old. It will be winchester-ish gray with blue interior and a blue vinyl top, I'll make a build thread for it when the work actually begins. Thanx for reading, hopefully you didn't get bored.
