Hello! New member from Illinois

Hi everyone! I've got a 1964 Dodge 440 2 door hardtop, push button automatic with a 727 factory transmission. Just yesterday the Neutral push button broke where the little slot is to connect to the switch. I had taken the face plate off and saw that the push buttons are held together by a mere piece of felt, fitted around each push button. That's it. Does anyone think the push button are cool but it's a poor design with this set-up? I'm also thinking of ditching the push buttons and convert to a Hurst automatic gear shift instead on the floor. Any thoughts MOPAR friends?

Welcome aboard.

It kinda depends if you're into originality (and possibly value) or drive-ability.
But be warned, if the car is otherwise stock, once you change the shifter, it won't stop there.

I guess you checked places like Year One for replacement parts?

Hey thanks for the reply! I don't plan on selling the car, but I will pass it along later on in life like it was passed to me, so the originality aspect....i'm on the fence.

By the way Archer, I absolutely LOVE your '74 Charger. I was looking on the internet at one in TX that is black on black with a 400 4-barrel....smokin' ride, dude!

Thanks buddy. I don't get to take her out as much as I'd like, the virus put a damper on club meets and shows this year.
Did have her out for a cruise last night, and yeah, still a head turner, and a hoot to drive.

I hear ya about being on the fence. If it's pretty much stock, I'd hard pressed to mod it out.
If it needs work ... well ... you have options
Keep us posted.
