Hello from Northern Wisconsin
So, when I was a kid (prolly around 10 or 11), there was an old 57 Dodge D100 sittin out behind the house. It was "mine" to fix up. I tinkered with it off and on all the way through high school. In the latter years I actually made some progress. Then I turned 18 moved out got a job, etc. One day I stopped by my Dads place for a visit and "MY" truck was GONE!!! WTF? He sold it to the guy that owned the local junk yard. I was pissed. But not much I could do. Anyway fast forward 20+ years. I see an add for some old car for sale, and the guy selling it is the son of the guy who bought "my" truck. I had always thought about stopping out there and seeing if it was still there but as time goes by it seems less and less likely, and I never looked into it. Anyway, I message the kid and ask if he ever seen a 57 Dodge truck out there. He says his Dad has an old fifty something Dodge out behind the house. I ask if its for sale, he says come take a look and make an offer. SO, I go out there, ( I was actually nervous), we walk out in the cow pasture and holy &%$# there's "MY" truck! In the same state of repair as I left it 20+ years ago. He must have rolled it off the trailer and never touched it. I'll be picking it up this weekend!! I'll keep you posted.
My boys named it Mater as soon as they saw it. I'm pretty much stuck with that name now. I can't even call it "the truck" with out my 3 year old correcting me and saying " It's MATER dad"
I'm really not to sure what I'm going to do with it, but probably some degree of Rat Rod. I have a line on a running 318 w/4spd tranny I can get real cheap so that might just end up going in. If I do that then I should probably at least put disc brakes in it to, Maybe power steering. As far as the body goes, that is going to stay as it is. Lower it a little. That's kind of an over view of the rough ideas I have for now. They are of course subject to change.
