Hi from SW Michigan
Hey there
I'm a 32 year old Mopar/muscle car enthusiast. Got it growing up from my dad. He had a '69 Mustang Boss 429 - Blue with an off center white stripe that his dad sold out from under him when he went into the Army, and he never did quite get over that.
We always talked about doing a build together once he retired but cancer took him in 2011. I still plan on following through, for dad, and want to drive it as my daily driver till the snow hits the pavement - and was actually looking at project cars last summer when I found out I was pregnant...
So now, finances are being used for building a family, but I still want to do the build in a few years. In the meantime I will hang out here. Love looking at all your cars.
Not 100% sold on a car yet. I love the 67-74 era Mopars, esp. the Roadrunners, Coronets, Challengers, Chargers, Novas, Chevelles...

Welcome Becca, I am so sorry for your loss, of your Dad. And congrates on the new baby.. Its always nice to see women interested in old muscle cars. I love the old Mopars I own all Mopars except for my beater car which is an old Toyota that I bought for commuting to work.(38 miles per gal.) My toy is a 72 Duster 340 which is now a built 360 . should be back home from Paint this week or early next week. This is a very expensive hobbie but worth it when done.

I will go and check out the pics of your car. I like the Dusters, too. Drive it often?
As far as I go, I'd be lying to say I'm knowledgeable on most the mechanical stuff. Finding a car that runs and needs mostly cosmetic would probably be safer for me at this point...I could never do a build from the ground up. I guess I can learn from you guys in the meantime.
Thanks everyone! Glad to be here!

Welcom to the forum. Congrats on the baby. I have 5 total in my house form 13-2 there great, but lots of work. B4 u purchase a classic hang out and read everything you can and through that you will beable to make a better choice of a car thats more your style and you can have that bond so many of us have with our cars. Personally i have wanted a RoadRunner before i can remember, my dad had several and those cars are what i remember most about being young, in the garage, at the races, on the road. So it was easy for me to be a RoadRunner guy basic, straight forward, power. no extras no emenities just basic power. The people on here and the vehicals for sale here will help you alot.

It would be better if your spouse were onboard and involved with the build then it becomes a project you both want and are going to enjoy. And you can talk things over, plans, color, money etc. it makes alot less stress. But alot of times thats not possible so you just follow your dream and let the rest fall where it falls.

Nice to see another woman into cars. I got it worse than you and have been working on cars since I was 7 much to my mothers disappointment.
I wait for the baby pictures eagerly if you wish to share them. I'm in Manitoba, canada. No I will not babysit for you, Okay I probably would I melt when I see a baby but that's aside from the point.
Hmmm most of these cars have had uhm guys with way to much testosterone and watched too much Tim the toolman taylor so the cars generally have to have a lot of work done to them to be street drivable these days.
Just a suggestion but an Coronet maybe a 69 regular car would be a good starter project. Nothing to big or expensive 318 or 383 2 barrel car with an automatic in it. 2 door car or maybe a 4 door for the little one. Something cheap but with the general feel of the performance cars that you could get the little one into if need be.
Something easy to find basically. So some cleaning on it to make it look nice while you teach yourself, or your partner, what they don't know. Drive it and the little one around to shows then as the finances become available find something harder to find and go from there.
Note although fun, dragging your spouse through a scrapyard on your anniversary doesn't entirely go over well. He refuses to go to a scrapyard/salvage yard with me anymore.
Being realistic however we are brought up that as a mother all our attention and focus is on raising the child. Sorry about your dad I know how much that hurts and I offer my deepest condolences on your loss.
Hugs Jacilynn.
