Just bought a 73 Dart Sport 340!!!

Hey guys. My names Lance and I have recently picked up a 1973 Dodge Dart Sport 340. I've been looking FOREVER to find something unique, and I finally got it:D. Hoping you guys will help me out if I come across any trouble. Looking forward to talking. Thanks!!

Doc 08-04-2008 02:36 AM

Hi Lance ... are you keeping it bone-stock? .. if not - what are your plans ? ..

pappa_wolf 08-04-2008 07:23 AM

Hi Lance
welcome

73Badsport 08-04-2008 09:04 AM

Thanks. And no, it would be hard to not do anything lol. I just had the engine completely rebuilt with performance parts. EVERYTHING that could be done. I"ll be getting pics of both the engine and the car later this week. Hopefuly you guys like it as much as I do. Are there many other Dart Sports here? I did a search, but didn't find much. Thanks again guys.

Bolt-on parts now ? .. then internal stuff in the winter ??

challenger 08-04-2008 01:43 PM

Welcome 73Badsport and im sure we can help out with most anything you throw at us and i do like the darts and im looking for a 68 myself , i have a 340 that came out of one and want to put it back in one but never stock :D... enjoy we'll be waiting for some pics:

Actually I just had everything done at once. New cylinder heads, port & polish, bored .040 over. I have the entire build sheet. The engine was totally apart when I picked it up,so new parts were pretty much a must. Im a 19 year old kid, so moneys kinda tight. The body on the car is in great shape, but the interior was completely stripped, so that's what i'm getting to next. I'm just pumped to get everything done. I'll try and get some pictures up tomorrow night. Thanks again for the welcome. See ya guys later

Doc 08-05-2008 02:22 AM

What kind of pistons did you get ?

73Badsport 08-07-2008 12:15 AM

Honestly, i'm not even sure. Everything is being done professionally. I don't have the time or knowledge to do most myself. I'm going in tomorrow for some pictures before they drop the engine in. I'll be sure to check on the pistons though. Any parts that you guys would recommend or avoid?

Doc 08-07-2008 03:51 AM

Yeah ... give us a grocery-list of those parts. But isn't it toooo late to change anything at this point ?

73Badsport 08-07-2008 09:48 AM

For a majority of the stuff, yes, but I just want to make sure I have dependable parts. And if I do have to make any kind of replacement, then i'll have some idea of what I should use. I'm heading to town now, so you guys wil see some pics for sure tonight. Thanks for showing interst in all of this. Talk to you guys later.:D

Just a RED X for me.

73Badsport 08-07-2008 06:21 PM

Sorry the pics are so big. The pictures of the engine are going to be late...took them on my cell phone and they're pretty blurry. I'll take some on a real camera tomorrow. And i'll get the info on the pistons and other parts tomorrow. The builder wasn't there today. Hope you guys like my car.

73Badsport 08-07-2008 06:34 PM

I can see em..anybody else getting the red X?

challenger 08-07-2008 07:19 PM

hey 73 that is a great looking car and i like the color silver on it and you could put a nice blue stripe down it and i think it would look cool :D anyway let us see the motor when you get a chance and im sure when its done all your friends are going to be jealous of you hehehe just be safe when driving it cause you will have alot of power from it

Doc 08-07-2008 07:52 PM

The pics are showing up now ... nice clean car !

And the pics look good to me.

73Badsport 08-07-2008 08:50 PM

I appreciate the feedback guys. I'll get some more pictures up tomorrow of the engine, along with some specifics of the parts. Talk to you guys tomorrow

Doc 08-07-2008 09:47 PM

IF you ever come across another A body that clean ...... that you don't need ...drop me a note !! ...... that sun-roof is a rare-bird indeed !

ef8340 08-08-2008 06:25 AM

clean lookin project does it have the fold down rear seat? u gonna go back to original on the body? ,...... i like the red and the sun roof

73Badsport 08-08-2008 12:56 PM

I'm going to be sticking with the silver color for now. I don't know if i'm going with the black stripe down the side, or just regular racing stripes down the middle. The engine bay is getting painted black this week. Quick question: Anybody know of a newer bucket seat that would still look good in my Dart? I have the original seats, but they're in rough shape. I've been looking, and it would cost more for just the seat covers than a majority of the seats i've come across. And yeah, i'll definetely get back to ya if I come across another one Doc. Thanks again guys and a few pics of the engines will be up tonight.

Doc 08-08-2008 03:00 PM

GOOD seats to use ? ... that are cheap and comfy ?? .... look at some minvan seats !

73Badsport 08-08-2008 09:42 PM

  1. Really? I'll have to look into those lol..they don't really come to mind when I think of muscle car seats. And about the pics of the engine..my memory card reader isn't working, so I have to make a picture CD thing at walmart tomorrow and then they'll be up tomorrow. DO you guys have any recommended bolt-on performance parts that will help me out? And I talked to the builder of the engine, he said they used Keith-Black hypereutectic pistons.

Doc 08-08-2008 10:53 PM

The KB pistons ? .... I have heard both good and bad stories about them. I - personally - would not use them.

Other part choices ? .. how about telling us whjat you are going to use for a cam ?

Hopefully the'yre pretty dependable. And as for cams, I believe he said Lunati. But anyways, here are a few pics.

O12kona 06-25-2009 09:22 PM
