Mechanical fuel pump predicament

Hello all and thank you ahead of time if you are responding. I recently bought a 79 Power wagon that started off a 318 truck . At some point a 360 from an early 80s van was swapped in and ran for quite a few years before it was parked and sat for just over a year . I had it towed on a flat bed to my garage . Now here's my problem. I wasn't able to get gas up to the carb so I bought a new fuel pump , still no gas , I can draw gas thru the line by siphoning with ease, but very little comes out of the fuel line when the engine is cranking. I'm stumped . Also after removing the old pump I don't belive it was even bad to begin with.

Thanks for the replies . I was able to get the truck running . It just took alot more carb priming and cranking then what I'm used to . I also found out the truck is a Macho hiding under the primer so I'm excited about that
