Exclamation MoparGal needs some serious help

I have 1974 4 door Dodge Dart. 225 Slant Six. Here is my problem. I have no VN on my Engine block. Now. I will be more than willing to post some pictures of it. But, it looks like it was never stamped. I've had all the car enthusiasts in my town tell me a bunch of theories. But I need you Mopar Men to help me out. I've looked all around this engine, and I am about a minute from pulling the whole damn thing out and taking it apart...
The previous owner, to say it the nicest way... Was a complete Idiot. I bought the car from him for 500 Bucks. He told me, that he had put 75 headers on the engine. Regardless, there should still be a vn, am I correct. Now I have already had the title switched to my name, with no problems. So the car hasn't been reported stolen. But, I know they don't check the engine VN..
I've had some older Gentlemen, tell me that it could be a prototype. That the entire car could be a prototype or just the engine. Various parts of identification around the car, say late 73 while others say early 74. The way they explained that was they would take whatever parts they could find and piece em together with a prototype car. They said if I have the original Prototype for the car it is worth millions... I find this all very hard to believe. Someone please help me...

ya no the car is worth about 1000 as it sits the 225 slant six that is in your car had all ready been around for 14 years 1960-1974 and would only carry over untill 1978 the engine code On the slant six engines it is located just below the cylinder head on the
passenger side of the block. I highly doubt you have any kind of proto slant six maby if the car was a 1960 dart then yes it would have been possible

Sigh...

That's the thing. I have looked on the block where you said. It's not there, or underneath. I have even tried the Acetone wash to try and get the vin show. there is nothing there, and it's not ground down like it's stolen. So what now? It still has 6 225R 4 5 on the other side of that strip, and it's smooth, and I've even chipped the paint down to check if it was ground down. But it's entirely uniform.

It could be a warranty replacement block, they would not be stamped with a VIN because they are not original to that particular car.

I agree, this is probably a "warantee" block. Be content that you don't have a 1/2-million dollar collector car, like, say, a hemi Cuda with a warantee block.

"One-Hit-Wonder"! A GIRL shows up in this "sausage-fest" and you all fall over yourselves trying to help! I'll bet I wouldn't have gotten 13 replies! HaHa! [wiping tears from my eyes while laughing.] Yes, I work at a factory, so the warranty block thing is most likely. But.....has anyone heard of a new slant-six EVER failing? Was there a bad run that anyone remembers back in the day?
