Hello, I'm close top retirement and I'm going to give myself a present that I've always wanted. A 1974 Dodge Dart 76 Sport 318. What I would like to ask is as follow: Are the Edelbrock 318 Package 0 to 5000 good? This includes: Intake Manifold 2176 or 3776, Cam 2177, Edelbrock Carb. 600 maybe 650, Timing Chane 7803, Edelbrock Heads 60779.

Any comments and opinion will be appreciated since I was a Chevy fan until it was stolen and taken for a joy ride.

First, make sure the engine is sound. Do compression tests etc BEFORE you start adding Hi-perf parts.

Also consider the condiition of the rest of the car.

1. Unless you want to start mixing and matching parts, the Eddy top end package is probably your safest bet. Normally I'd say you didn't need the heads, but the 74 318 heads were low flow to say the least.

2. With a good engine you will also need to do something about the exhaust system, headers and full dual pipes may be necessary.

3. The tranny may also need freshening and a higher stall converter may be in order.

4. You might also want to find out what your rear gear ratio is.

Sorry about increasing your budget, but a Hi-perf motor needs the rest of the car to match.

BTW - hows the suspension???
