New guy from Az!

Hello everyone!!
So, I just bought a 1972 Dodge Dart Custom. This is going to be my first project car and I was hoping I could get some help/advice on where to start and what options I have with this vehicle. I do want it as a daily driver, just want to have something with more kick, to have a little fun in, then keeping it stock. Any information/advice/help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome!

What does it have for a motor and transmission?

Some of the simple bolt on upgrades that just about anyone can do at home is a carb, intake, header and exhaust upgrade. There are also underdrive pulleys that will help to free up a few HP, distributors, wires, and coil packs as well. After that, you can always look into swapping in a sure grip/limited slip into the rear axle and maybe a stage 1 shift kit into the transmission (automatic only). From there, if you want more, you'll need to start tearing into the motor.

Thank you for the welcomes everyone. As for my dart it is an automatic with a 318. I'm more then likely going to rebuild the engine because the previous owner said he hadn't ran the vehicle in years (he can't recall how many exactly) but i figure it would be a good idea too. Also, I saw that they have a fuel injection kit for the dart. Would it be worth putting one in??

A well tuned/setup carb motor will run as good as a fuel injected motor IMO. With that being said, a fuel injection kit setup with a full exhaust system would really wait up that 318. Throw in a mild cam and you will have a really fun Dart!
