New Guy Here I need your Input PLEASE HELP!
I'm new to the Mopar seen Ive never really looked at other cars besides the Chevy's as i grew up hard core Chevy lovers well I'm older now well not that old 28 but i love all American cars Ive been getting into mopar because it seems you can get allot of car for the price out there.
So I'm bored with my 98 GMC Z71 ext. Cab 3 door truck and with 180k on the clock.
Ive found a 1966 Dodge Charger for 5000 and he wants to maybe to a trade for the truck Ya my truck has AC starts right up has 4x4 but with my wage i don't think ill be able to get a classic hot rod any time soon and I'm dying to hit up some cruise nights I'm thinking you only live once!
Ill save up for a winter beater and drive this car as much as i can what do you guys think am i crazy or is it a good deal is it a good looking charger and price wise.....I asked them about rust the said this
" The engine is out of a 65 Belvedere and it is a 318 big block. As for the floor pans they have all been repaired, primed and a coat of urethane form the fire wall to the trunk. to my knowledge there is only one hole left to fix, the pass side rear wheel well going into the trunk. needs to be fixed throughout the well."
And this is a copy of the ad.
" 1966 Dodge Charger
This car was bought as a project car and now I don't have time for it. It is electrically sound, and drives well. We have done quite a bit of interior work. New carpet, new headliner and new seats. We have new quarter panels that are still in the box and all of the original chrome. It still needs a little bit of work on the outside to be aesthetically pleasing, but this muscle car is a great addition for any car enthusiast or someone looking for a car to rehab that doesn't need a lot of work. Lots of extra parts that are ready to be installed."
And here is a pic of my truck...

the only thing I can say is that a 66-67 charger CAN be an expensive car to restore back to original condition. I know I used to have one. Try pricing a set of tail light lenses for it, or the trim for the front fenders. All I am saying is buyer beware. When it comes to those cars, its the little things that cost a fortune.(alot of one off stuff on them) so make sure all the trim and things like that a re usable. Do the hidden headlights work? (they have sealed motors,$$ to fix) How about the 'electroluminescent' gauges. (they glow green when illuminated and each gauge{i think} has its own little transformer,$$) They are a sweet looking car when done right though so I'm not trying to dicourage you, just givin you the 'heads-up. The deal is up to you though cause I have no Idea how much it will be worth. I dont think they usually bring that much though. At one time, someone was remanufacturing the tail light lenses but I'm not sure if that is the case now. Fairley low production numbers. I think 66 around 30,000 were made and in 67 around 15,000 made.

There is no 318 big block out there. a 318 is a small block. 361 and up are big blocks so you might want to ask them about that. It looks good in the pics. You should go over it with a fine tooth comb and really think about it, since it is your money/truck.
