new guy in reno

my name is erick and i'm addicted to mopars.

i have a 03 dodge neon (broken for now), 05 ram 1500 4.7, 08 avenger (wives), and recently got a 39 dodge pickup. i also got a 360 and an unknown auto tranny. i was told they were pulled from a duster. i've looked up a few things about the motor and decided to build a 408 stroker.

my first questions are is it easier to pick and choose parts or buy a kit? i wanna make it sit low but not really sure how to. how can i tell what tranny it is? lastly what size rear end and gears should i put under it?

also i wanna keep it as mopar as possible. thanks

the stroker i would go for the kits, kits are all balanced, (usually) come with bearings if they need chamfering they will do that before its shipped, tranny post a pic of it and we here can tell you what it is, cross your fingers and hope its a 727, rear end 8 3/4" should be enough, gears what do you to use this truck for? some hwy id go no lower than 3.23. city some strip 3.90, lowering im sure theres a few members here that will give you some tips and pointers,
also welcome!!

Welcome! I use 3:55 gears for a mixture of city and highway driving and it is working good for me. Looking forward to pics of your truck!
