New Hot Rodder

Hi folks!

I'm an old muscle-car dude that just had a 1948 Dodge Deluxe Coupe fall into my lap! I'm interested in learning all I can about her, particularly what I can do to boost the performance out of the old L6 and Fluid Drive. I don't want to get stupid with her, but I know we can do better than 102HP.

Anyone have any info, resources or advice (other than ditch the driveline...I'd like to keep the big "Dodge Fliud Drive" on the chrome dash accurate).

Welcome to the forum.... Can't offer any suggestions on performance up grades on your fluid drive but that is a cool looking car!!!! I'm sure someone on here has experience with them.... What part of Eastern Central Florida?? I'm in DeLeon Springs... App 30 miles east of Daytona Beach.... Be sure to check out the Mopar of the Month contest... See the sticky for the simple rules and then you can help choose the winner....

3.8L / 230CI correct?

Are you burning reg gas in it? Has it already been modified in some way already? If so, how?

Thanks for the welcome (and the compliments), folks! I'm near Melbourne, due East of Orlando. She's had some work done to her, bodywise, but she's basically stock.

I'm not running anything in it at the moment...the previous owner burned and bent a valve and hammered the seat. The motor is out and sittin' on a stand in my garage. The only mods that I know she's had is disc brake drop spindles up front and a 12v conversion. I've already found a twin-carb intake and, from what I can see, the motor has plenty of potential. I'm not lookin' to make a quarter-mile-er out of her, just would like to cruise at highway speed without havin' to run almost full throttle.
