Thumbs up New Member "1 of 6" 71 Challenger R/T build

Hey guys. I am a chevy guy about to invest in another project, and will most like likely be turning to you guys a lot with this build (assuming everything goes as planned). .

Any way the car is a 1971 challenger R/T. The guy (who doesn't have a title because he got it from a salvage yard) claims that the car is one of six puple and white with the big block 383 although he doesnt have the motor or trans. Here is a video of the car and the vin:

The main reason Im here is to verify the options on the car and would like a suggestion as to what registry or decoder I should use. Thanks guys.

Picture of the vin plate it seems legit. Legit enough for $1500

We weren't saying it's not true we are just saying take baby steps. The problem is no title. That's a real big pain to get over.

For sure I am fortunate enough to have a Grandmother with a title service in Austin. Im also a car dealer. Good deal for 1500? HA. But seriously give me some ideas on the build, im thinking vanishing point look-alike.

Welcome!

When you start to breakdown a car base on options, the chances of it being a "1 of (a low number)" are pretty good. When you base it on just trim package, motor and tranny, then it's more like "1 of (a high number)". What you want to hear/see is "1 of (a low number)" with just the trim package, motor and tranny.

The fact that there is no motor, no trans, no title, it was pulled from a salvage yard, doesn't really work in this guys favor. Look over the car very carefully. Look for wet carpets, floor of the trunk for rust/rot, torsion bar frame just for a start. Is the interior complete at least?

I don't follow your thinking. If this REALLY is some rare one out of X car, WHY would you destroy whatever rarity it enjoys my making a clone of something else?

The only thing that makes rare cars worth anything is that they are either ORIGINAL or RESTORED to original correct "nous."

First the salvage yard should have at least given him a bill of sale !!! But that looks like it is just a shell... so unless you need body parts to fix another one ??? I would pass. Or does he have boxes and boxes of parts ????? I would have the cops run the vin before spending any money
