New member possibly trading for 87 D150

Hello everyone, I currently have a 2000 jeep grand Cherokee with the 4.0 I6. I have a guy that wants to trade for his 87 D150, its overall in pretty decent shape. The wheel wells for the bed are rusted through and there small rust on the doors. Almost nothing on the cab excluding cab mounts. Has surface rust on the frame. Only real issues is that the 318 has fuel delivery issues and the guy had cleaned the carb after finding rubber in it (the fuel hoses were replaced with rubber at some point). He told me its idling fine now but of you give it any gas she dies. The mechanical fuel pump is junk so he has an electric fuel pump installed and for this test he has new hoses (I assume rubber) running from a gas can. This would be my first time owning a carbuerated vehicle and I really want the learning experiance but at the same time I cant justify trading into something that's going to be a black hole. Any help would be appreciated and any advice helps! Thanks guys!

Welcome to the forums.

Older vehicles are always a black hole, but hey. If you enjoy learning and wrenching on your own vehicles that's half the fun.

You just described a vehicle I wouldn't go near, how bad is your Jeep?

Front end needs ball joints and Ujoints, as well as a CV, the trans slips a beat at 20 mph, the steering stabilizer needs to be replaced the back end almost seems to float a bit, almost like an unstable table where the top isnt securely connected to the legs... if that makes sense. The passenger side window motor is shot the blinker switch is spotty and for a while it was dying at idle. I cleared the dying at idle issue recently but havent tested it for more than maybe 30 minutes worth of run time.
