New from New York
Mopar fans rejoice! I just got my first Mopar, a 1968 Barracuda, on a trade for my 2001 Z-28. Yes, I jumped camps.....somewhat. I still have a 1971 Camaro. Like I said, this is my first experience with any Mopar product, so go easy on me if I start asking a lot of stupid questions.
I've learned a lot just doing research to decide if I wanted to do the trade. I'm actually surprised at myself that I actually went through with it, because the guy I did the swap with didn't know some of the specifics I usually like to know. He actually got the car on trade himself. He did a lot of sheet metal, interior, and electrical work, but didn't have any specifics on the engine. Anyway, the car is a 1968 Barracuda, mini-tubbed with
28-11.5-15's, skinnies up front, ladder bars, 8 3/4" rear with 4.11's, TF727 with stock converter, and a 451" B engine.
The car sounds great and I can't wait to drive it. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to drive since last August when I was hit by a car and shattered my left femur. I've had 4 surgeries to repair the damage and am getting close to getting behind the wheel again. Thank God my wife is supportive of my hobbies or I would have never been able to get the car. I'm on Long Island and the car was in Missouri. After a month of going back and forth with e-mails and phone calls with the prior owner and another month of my doctor telling me I can't travel, we came to an agreement. Straight up swap and meet in Columbus, Ohio to exchange. This last weekend my wonderful wife agreed to drag my car on a trailer over 600 miles to Ohio and drag the new one back! Damn, I'm a lucky guy!
Here are a few pics the prior owner e-mailed to me while we were corresponding. As I make changes I'll keep posting.

Thanks! I will certainly let you know when I'm racing. Maybe I'll see you out at E-Town? The only problem with the car from a racing standpoint is the fact that the cage is constructed out of 1 1/2" tubing. I don't understand why someone would take the time to construct a cage and have it legal for nothing. Everything else seems to have been done right. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. I've got to get myself healed first.
Here's a few pics of that.
