Hey everybody. I'm new to the site but I've been around Mopars my whole life. I'm 22 and the owner of a '70 Sport Satellite which I plan on making into a GTX clone. My dad has a shop where he restores classic cars on the side. He's completely restored (with help from my brother and I) a little bit of everything, '67 Camaro, 4 different 67-72 Chevy trucks, '65 Mustang, '71 Challenger just to name a few.
My Dad bought the Sport Satellite when I was 10 with plans on restoring it for himself. It was a very faded B5 blue 318 automatic on the column, Air conditioned car. The quarter panels were all banged up but the rest of the car was in great shape-- no rust anywhere. Fast forward a few years and Dad had stripped the car down and cut the quarters out but thats about it. He ended up buying my older brother a '67 chevy truck to restore, so it was only fair that I got an old car as well... so he gave me the Satellite after buying himself a '70 Cuda to restore.
I currently live about an hour away from home so I never get much of a chance to go home and work on it, and Dad doesn't have a lot of time either due to his job and other projects. As of now it has most of the body work done. We have a built 383 (I know that's not correct for a GTX, but who cares) and a Hemi 4speed to put in it. We've got the correct hood, disc brakes, and a complete Rallye dash frame, wiring harness, etc.. The gauges have been rebuilt/restored and we have the correct pedals and steering column for the 4 speed swap. I plan on lowering it a little and putting some 18s on it and some other custom things like that.
But anyway, it'll be years before we get it finished, but I figured I'd join the forum for ideas and answers to any questions I may have.
