I am not the trans expert but The overdrive is the weak link.. For a 95 I am assuming it has 125K + miles or more. That is it's life expectancy of a 518 . the overdrive clutches are likely worn out
I would drop the pan and change the filter & change the fluid.. With the pan off check the solenoids bolted to the valve body- look for any broken / loose bolts

physically check regarding tranny inputs.

1. Check TV cable mount on TB. It has two detents that snap thru the lever mounted at the throttle body so the cable can be removed. They dont hold well and the lower can slide thru. Causing a slip or hunt for gear due to improper adjustament.
2. make sure TV cable and lever on tranny move in exact concert with throttle opening. NO LAG time..
2. Weak TPS voltage to the computer will give the OD no idea of how much throttle you are asking for and the lock up will lock and unlock constantly even though you are on the gas.
3. Contamination: Cooler lines are over / near electrical harness. Fluid in there will cause issues if it leaked into harness receptacle.
4. Make sure you do not have a short in the OD "off" button.
5. OD is a not actually a weak point IMO. it is just the first to go if the Tranny had to much heat or was abused. So if all else is good it could be an indication you are past useful life. You can pull the entire OD without removing the main body. You can get it off and on in less that an hour with normal tools.

Some, his does if it's the 5.9 I6 motor...( or i need gink o baloba ) If you back prob the voltage at the switch you can find a flat spot in the windings. They wont trip voltage when you crack the throttle slightly. And since that motor makes TONS of torque it causes all sorts of problems on the slight OD inputs..
