Pound for Pound...the luckiest guy alive!
Hey gang! New to the forum, but I expect to be a regular now. I have had the best weekend of my life. I just bought my first car (1966 Belvedere II with 383) back from the car who bought it from me 22 years ago. I stupidly sold it before leaving for the US Air Force. I had tried to buy it back over the years but the guy would have no part of it although all he had done was drive the car home and park it in his backyard. He literally did not even pop the trunk for 22 years. The gas in the tank and the oil in the motor was put in by me 22 years ago. He called me out of the blue last week and offered to sell it back. Still not sure how he found me since I live in a totally different state now. Literally, words cant describe what it is like to get this car back. It is still in great shape. Paint and interior are pretty much shot, but the car is solid with minimal rust. So I plan on visiting the forum for restoration advice and just to "chew the fat" on a regular basis.

I posted a few pics in my album. I have to look at them myself to remind me that its my car again. Dont know where to start on restoring. It had a rod knocking when I sold it (which really helped in the long run for me because he just let it sit for 22 years) so I know I've got to go through every thing mechanical but its the body and paint that stump me. Dont know if I want to spend years getting it as close to perfect (or my idea of perfect) as possible or get it running and just do a basic limited restore paint job. Suggestions?

Welcome to the forum my B-Body brother. Congrats on the recovery of your Belv, just goes to show if you are serious about buying a "Yard Car" then go for it and let the owner know. So far as the resto goes, I guess it depends on how much you want to spend and how quickly you want it on the road. I would suggest a mechanical overhaul, drivetrain, suspension, steering, brakes and exhaust. Enough to get it on the road while you collect parts and funds for the body resto, or you can do the body a panel at a time while you enjoy driving it.Whatever you decide, good luck with your project. BTW, check out the sweet project B-Body in this months Mopar of the Month. Us B-Body guys got to stick together!
