Rolloing through & need some Help w/ a 69 roadrunner
Hello Forum looks great hope someone can throw quick answers at me. Here is the scope I'm going to look at a 69 Road Runner tonight . And by my tag you can tell I know nothing about Mopar. This RR has a 383 with a grabber hood and a 4 speed.
1- I need to know what my Casting #'s should be and were they are located.
2 - I need to know where the number on the motor that should match the vin are
3 - I need to know how to pull the codes from the vin
Sorry from jumping into this in the into section but I'm on a time crunch and didnt know where else to turn.
Does mopar have something like a Corvette black book I can run to boarders books to get ? if another RR owner has all the info PLEASE drop me a line 516 410 3007

Well, the block #'s will be on a boss up by the water pump/ alt area, or there will be some on the side of the block just above the oil pan rail right hand side. The last 8 digits of the vin should match the #'s on the block if it's a #'s matching car. If you get the vin I will decode it for ya. Anything else you want to know just ask. It seems your on the road to recovery bb427, must be a Cheby guy. Welcome to the forum and welcome to Moparland.

Yes Polaradude I'm a proud father 69 L-71 vette but I love anything with a motor that can snap a neck . Okay I got the Vin # right here it is
RM23H9A288166 can you enlighten me on what I should be looking at.
what do you think I should be looking to pay for it - condition REAL nice driver from 5-10 feet the car looks great up close some pitting on chrome under hood looked clean . Interior is pretty tite. The car sat in a barn for the last 25 years this guy picked it up 2 years ago cleaned it up got the gremilins out of the dash wiring and says it has a fuel transponder or something that needs to be replace but it still runs and he has the new FT

9= year, 1969
A= Lynch Rd. Assembly plant in Detroit

It helps alot so the number on the block either above the water pump or above the pan rail should read 288166 . What do you think I should offer this guy obviously there is a 188161 of these cars made so its not a 440 6pk cuda or a 67 L-88 vette.
Your personal opinion what would you be willing to pay for NICE driver

In all honesty it's hard to say without seeing the car. It may have options that would be on the broadcast sheet that make it more valuable. What colour is it, even better can you post a pic ? What's he asking ? The reason I say this, I went to look at a 69 RR w/Hemi, buddy wanted 125,000 for the car and it wasn't even #'s matching, wrong colour for the year and the seats weren't even right for the year and they were out of a chevelle, ya see what I am saying

he car is orange with a black interior . I have no pictures the guy says he has some sort of documentation that it's #s matching but he is not positive to me that is a red flag. I actually havent got a look at it so I was really looking for what to check. The only thing I know is from what my brother saw of the car he says the engine compartment you could eat out of and the interior looked like a few year old car not real even broken in.
The current owner is looking for 18k & told me it is a real nice driver .
Should I look for anything particular when I inspect the car ? the guy said he replaced the gas tank but doesnt have a tank tag for the old one I dont know if Plymouth came with a tank tag in the plastic like vettes did. Tell me if there is anything you would hunt for specificly .
PS he said he also replaced the crash pad and heater core.
Should this car have came with AC ?

These are all details that would be found on the broadcast sheet. I doubt it's #'s matching because of the price. So let's say for arguments sake it isn't. $18k seems a little high to me, but I haven't seen the car. There are 69's on the web for as little as 5000 and up to 150,000. At the end of the day it's your money bro. You'll need the broadcast sheet to determine everything you need to know, see if he has it.
Lynch Rd has a unique fender tag that will be under the hood, get those #'s, it will give you what you need.

Okay to up date you guys I just got hoe from seeing the car it was not #'s matching the motor was a 6 none HP 383. Some carefully hidden cancer on the rear and a hole thought the front right rail right by where the body mount support is. A sticky lifter , needed a clutch , extra play in the tranny , some gas in the oil and need a sending switch. The rear quarters were lipstick and rueged on about a 1/2" bondo on the bottoms and the new laudo roof covered some rott spots from were the 1/4s weld were done and the car was left in the weather. all & all the guy was out of his mind . I told him the car wasn't worth more than 9500 to me he said he had to get what he was into the car for 17500.00 I told him if needs to get 17500 for the car he better burn it cause no self respecting muscle head would pay more than 10-11 on a 6 beer wensday afternoon.

Some people think that no matter what car they have, if it is a "rare" car, or a "collector's item", no matter what condition it is in, its worth a lot of money. Nobody wants to take a hit on a vehicle that they have put time and money into, but that is the nature of this hobby/love of ours.
