1993 Daytona... Compatible Engine Swap
Hello. I've got a 1993 Daytona that the engine is shot in. Nobody wants to bother rebuilding it for me; they tell me to get another engine & just swap em out. Unfortunately, the same engine isn't the easiest to find. What other engines, from what other vehicles & years, can be swapped out for mine without having to do any mods? THANKS!

Your gonna have to be the middleman on this transaction. Ive done a bunch of swaps and honestly there is little to no profit on a swap. The actual labor cost passed on often exceeds cars value. We use to give out a loaner and do the car after hours and early am to keep normal stuff going and even then it was for good customers only. It is a time hog.

This is a search tool for junkyard stuff. Search for your motor and then sort by distance. Try to find something under 100k. Make sure the motor has the plugs in it or it will be a rust monster. If they dont offer a warranty walk away. 300-500 is good price. Cash is king. If you go in person with the car-parts part number you will have the advertised price in hand. Most will deliver to auto shops after you pay for free. If they don't negotiate it into the price.
Good Luck.

It has a 3.0 in it. Being an older engine, I was afraid any engine I found will have high mileage, and that's why I was wondering if any other years/models will bolt right up. Mine had 175k on it when it died on me. Was told it slung a rod. Knocking like crazy. :/ The car is in good shape other than that & I don't wanna junk it. Are you suggesting it be rebuilt vs swapping it out with another engine of the same or another type all together? Thanks for the link to that website... it's good! I found many choices, some of them quite close.
