jack stand question

hey everyone

as luck would have it now that it is 10 below 0 my daughters neon lost a sway bar end link - I have not jacked this up yet with a floor jack nor have I used stands on this before -

I was looking for advise on the best location to use the floor jack and where might be best for the jack stands

I will be replacing both parts - also if anyone has an opinion on moog, napa or mopar parts for this are these good options or are there better?

as always your help is greatly appreciated

Sean

I would say... Jack it at the front K-Member... And put the jack stands in the side lifting locations.... Thats what I do.....

I like Moog or McQuay-Norris frontend parts...

SPC make good Alignment Products. If your in need.. http://www.spcalignment.com/

I own 6 Jack stands and use all of them if I'm physically going under my garbage. Blocks of wood or old rims work too. Being crushed or dead probably sucks.

yes being crushed would not make for a nice evening -

Thanks for the info on the jack points also

the Moog I can readily find at the local advanced auto or oreilly's I will have to check the McQuay Norris - I was hoping to find some USA made parts Moog I have heard was but I am hearing mixed info on that now - anyone know about that?

that's ok - I am sure we all get a little (?) frustrated from time to time about some of this stuff

the federal mogul corp I believe owns champion plugs which I think are still made here so at least some of what was - is still where it started - someone on another board thought there were limited moog parts here as denoted by a price discrepancy - USA were substantially more. Many of these links seem similarly priced - The only thing I was not sure about with the new moog design - it looks quite a bit different from the stock - the shape of the bushing that is. It seems like it may be an easier design to work with - I will see if I can link a picture and you can tell me what you think

thanks
Sean

If this is an earlier Neon and the links have lasted this long why not replace with OE? It's not like they haven't proven their longevity so why go with something questionable. When I jack my car, the ramps go under the front tires - one turned opposing the other so the wheel stops on the ramps prevent the car from rolling either way and it's sitting on it's own suspension so it really can't fall anywhere. You'll need both wheels at the same height any way to change both links - doing it one side at a time is a bear because the sway bar will have pressure on it from the other side.

I did go with the moog part - which was made in the USA poly bushings and seemed to go together fairly easy - I did end up doing one side at a time - I did jack up the a-arm/control arm to add a little more separation for the new bushings (hopefully that was ok) it seemed to work well. time will tell

thanks for all the input and help everyone -it is greatly appreciated
