JOLIET, Ill. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 13th annual United Association Route 66 NHRA Nationals presented by Miller Welders listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Jimmy Alund Runs 6.836/203.58, Now #2
Right Lane: Richie Stevens Runs 6.783/204.35, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 78 degrees, relative humidity 73 percent, barometer 29.01 inches, adjusted altitude 3,302 feet, track temperature 79 degrees.

We start Pro Stock after the long delay for rain...Jimmy Alund's incremental times: 60ft-1.026 sec., 330ft-2.871, 660ft-4.407/159.95 mph, 1,000ft-5.727.

A couple Iowa boys battling out for the quickest Pro Stocker in Iowa. River is the quicker of the two on this pair as Hogan has problems as soon as he lets the clutch out. Dave River's incremental times: 60ft-1.028 sec., 330ft-2.911, 660ft-4.468/158.13 mph, 1,000ft-5.807.

These two fired and pulled up to the water box and it began to sprinkle...we were down for 15 minutes. Gaines with problems as soon as he let the clutch out. Johnson goes to the number one spot. Kurt Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.993 sec., 330ft-2.801, 660ft-4.307/163.33 mph, 1,000ft-5.605.

These two did a burnout and when they were backing up it started to spritz. We were down for eight minutes. These two go to the number two and three spots. Johnny Gray's incremental times: 60ft-0.998 sec., 330ft-2.807, 660ft-4.314/163.35 mph, 1,000ft-5.613.

Weather conditions: air temperature 76 degrees, relative humidity 67 percent, barometer 29.05 inches, adjusted altitude 2,926 feet, track temperature 86 degrees.

Nobile has problems as soon as he let the clutch out. Lawrence didn't make a pass yesterday...actually this is first pass of the year.

Left Lane: Dave River Runs 6.910/199.91, Now #24; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Steve Schmidt Runs 6.751/204.54, Now #23; No Prior Run

Weather conditions: air temperature 82 degrees, relative humidity 62 percent, barometer 28.98 inches, adjusted altitude 3,473 feet, track temperature 106 degrees.

River with a little wiggle on the top end...Schmidt will not get into the show.

Left Lane: Kevin Lawrence Runs 6.849/201.61, Now #25; Best prior run: 6.945/177.35, Was #25

Edwards is 8 - 5 against Stevens in prior events. Stevens gets the advantage on the starting line, but Edwards has the difference made up by 330 feet. Weather conditions: air temperature 67 degrees, relative humidity 68 percent, barometer 29.24 inches, adjusted altitude 1,984 feet, track temperature 73 degrees.

Line is 13 - 9 against Edwards in prior events and each has won 3 times against the other in final rounds. Line with a great light and Edwards is right there with him. This is a great drag race as Edwards take the win by 0.0040 seconds (approximately 15 inches). Edwards runs the quickest pass of the event for the win.
