1991 Dodge Caravan shift lever (HELP)
I need help. The shift lever is stuck in P(ark), can't remove key. I think the link between the the shifter and trans. housing is broken. Probably broken inside the steering column. I've heard that the link is actually a cable. How do I get the column apart? Any diagrams would be helpful. Thanx!

Is the steering wheel turning freely? If not, have you tried see-sawing the wheel while moving the lever? If the vehicle is parked on a hill, or wheels turned, or on uneven ground, the steering column can exert force against the steering wheel anti-theft lock. It can take more force than you are used to on the shifter to free it, good luck.

no shift action
Steering wheel is fine. It's just the linkage between the column mounted lever and the trannie. The lever moves freely, no binding at all. The indicator lever stays on the P(ark) indicator regardless of where I move the shift lever. Thanx.
