I am in the process of restoring my 68 Newport. I just took out the headliner which is garbage. My question is does anyone know if there is a backing board I could put instead of the rods and headliner. Like the newer cars and just glue the fabric to the board instead of the roof and risk ruining it.

DO it the factory way with the rods for a nice clean installation. If you could make something ? It would require that you take the windshield out to get it inside the car
