Alternator brackets

Yeah, I'm a dumb-***. I took the alternator out and the previous owner had used stacks of washers instead of the right spacers to get the job done. I should have taken a pic, but since I have 4 step-kids in the house, the camera can never be found when you need it. Can anyone give me some good shots of the bracket set-up. Sorry to bother you. Thanks, Scotty. Btw, for a B-Block 383/400

Spacers

I had a simular problem with washer stacks. I got some 3/8 pipe nipples from the hardware store and made spacers. Mount your alt with the long bolt and use a straight edge to line up the pulleys then measure and cut the black pipe to the lengths needed. 1st thing to do is cut off the pipe threads and square the end with a grinder or file.
You can paint the spacers or leave them black or wire wheel them shiny. I have done this on non Mopars also. The I.D. of the 3/8 pipe is just right for the 3/8 blot.
Sorry I can't put up a pic, my car is put up and covered for winter.

Hey Scotty, have you looked at the 440Source site?
http://440source.com/altparts.htm
Decent pix of the setup. Yes its a 440 but should be same setup, you would just use the lower hole of the bracket (for the top Alt bolt).
I posted a similar pix of my setup on here for someone a few months ago. Can't find the pix but found the thread (I think) so must have PM'd the pix. My computer here at work, where it would have been saved, crashed and lost everything so I can look at home if the 440 source picture doesn't show you what you need.

Thanx guys, that was exactly what I needed! Alt is now installed. However it is out of alignment so I can understand a few washers, but not a roll of nickles! The spacer tip from pipe was great and thank you. I will fab-up a proper sized spacer this week out of them.

Scott, if you use the pipe spacers you can put them on a 3/8 bolt or threaded rod and put it in your drill and polish them. Spray with clear coat after polish.
I just used manifold grey on mine.
