this is going to sound a little odd but im wanting to chop my 86 diplomat about 4 inches and im thinking about tryin it myself but ive never done a chop before, any body have and suggestions on how to do this?

 

well i found a special kind of glass that aint really glass and it comes in a big sheet and you just cut what you need.... i cant remember the name of it though

It's a pretty ambitious project, even for somebody that's done it before. I havent done it either, but what I do know is that the roof shell has to be cut into quarters (1/4ths) and then 'stretched out' by adding material in order for the pillars to line up. (As a visual, imagine taking a pyramid shaped object and removing a section (chop). Now try attatching the two halves together - don't fit!

The glass will have to be "tempered safety glass" in order to meet federal regs. Can be custom made, but costly. If your project is for the strip, the requirements will likely be different. Good luck!

alright thanks for the advice and it was lexan that i was thinking about and i didn't know it was illegal, and from what i can gather it would be a big project just like bighammer said, so if i do do it i will probably take it some where to be done,
