Dizzy orientation, 383
I'm ready to stab the dizzy but am confused about the orientation because I've seen it differently done in two places. First, where should the vacuum can point? And what is the common location of the #1 terminal? A picture of someones big block set-up, with #1 identified, would be perfect. Thanks

It really doesn't matter as long as you have enough swing to adjust the timing. You can point the rotor anywhere and make that #1, just be sure you are on TDC on the compression stroke not the exhaust. It is an easy mistake to make, I have done it myself.

Thanks, but all set now. I was just confused by conflicting info in two books. Dizzy is now stabbed. Tomorrow looks like a good day for putting the match to it. Thank you guys.

Ok, #1 terminal has been decided. Not by me, but cause the previous owner cut the plug wire to length and it will only reach 1 terminal! HaHa.

scotty, # 1 wire is the firts plug in on the cap passed the locking clip on the pass. side of the dist, opposite side of the vac. pot., dont forget counter clock rotation. then the point on the vac. pot should point straight up to the end of the front bowl, then turn it towards rad hose. while cranking till it hits.
