Dropping a 318 Truck engine in a Slant 6 Duster 1975

OK my son and I are switching a Dodge pick up 318 to our Duster and we need help figuring out if we can use the same trany that came out of the pickup. I know we need a new oil pan and oil pickup. Also need the Shewmacher mounts to convert the S6 K to v8. Can we use the trucks Transmission? Its out of a Custom 200.
Any help you can give us would be appreciated. Also can we keep the rear end the same as it was with the slant 6?

you should be able to use the same trany if you are not going to Rod on the car the rear end will hold up for a while also but if you add more HP or use the passing gear you may break the rear bee... careful.
more details will hlp also.

It be a huge tremendous not to mention some help if you would actually tell us what your are working on

So for the record what year model is the pickup and the car?

For all I know, this is an older 318 Poly

You didn't specify what transmission, is this a truck 4 speed? Torqueflite? Is this a 2 wheel drive or 4x4?

If it's a stick, generally, "no" you can't use the truck gearbox

If it's a Torqueflite, it must be a 2 wheel drive. Assuming the Duster is also an automatic, you'll need a different driveshaft. You might be able to use the front yoke out of the pickup to have a new shaft made.

You will need different exhaust manifolds, or headers. You may be able to use the passenger side pickup manifold, but the driver side won't fit.

Thanks for the info. Sorry its a 75 Gold duster automatic with a slant 6. Took out the 6 and found a 1975 Dodge 200 auto custom pick up with a 318 2 barrel. We are going to switch and try to use the trucks trany in the duster as the slant 6 trany wont fit im sure. I dont know how to tell what trany in in the truck but i will crawl under and see if its listed anywhere. We are just getting started and will post pics as we go. Anyone wants a slant 6 to play with its yours.

Being a 200 , 3/4T model it should have a 727 trans - will fit right in if it is a two wheel drive

Did some measurements and the truck radiator seems like it will fit my Duster. Any reason why it wont fit? Also Schewmocher said the truck exhost manafold wont fit either. Guess it sits on the sterring Box. anybody know where I can get an A bodu manafold?
